Former Origin Greats (FOGS) is proud to continue its partnership with the Confraternity Shield carnival in 2026, building on a successful first year of support in 2025.
Since its inception, FOGS has played a meaningful role in mentoring young players, supporting grassroots clubs, and strengthening the pathways that have produced some of Queensland’s greatest rugby league talent.
The Confraternity Shield carnival shares a similarly rich history, like State of Origin, it also debuted in 1980. For decades, it has been one of Queensland’s most respected rugby league competitions, showcasing emerging talent from Catholic secondary schools across the state. Many Queensland and Australian representatives first made their mark on the Confraternity stage, from FOGS royalty such as Johnathon Thurston and Nate Myles to current superstars Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, Valentine Homes and Lindsay Collins, highlighting its importance within the game’s development pathway.
A vital pillar for FOGS is to give back to grassroots rugby league, and the Confraternity Shield carnival has always been operated at the highest level, which makes this partnership a natural fit.
By continuing our sponsorship, FOGS reinforces its commitment to strengthening the grassroots foundations of the game. We’re aiming to ensure the next generation of Maroons continue to rise through strong, values-driven programs, and develop not just as leaders, but as role models within their communities.
