Origin Greats Travel to the 'The Isa'
A group of FOGS including "Team of the Century" members Gene Miles, Arthur Beetson and Allan Langer are set to travel to Queensland's mining capital, Mount Isa on Wednesday the 9th of September.
The group of FOGS will be there for the Former Origin Greats Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo.
The expo is 'sold out' with a capacity 36 booths booked, providing an indication of the overwhelming response FOGS have received for the event.
The education and training providers on show will include Xstrata, Ergon Energy, Woolworths, James Cook University and TAFE Queensland.
The fifth expo in the six event series, the expo will provide the opportunity for job seekers and school leavers to be inspired by the origin greats and apply for jobs or training positions on the spot. The expos are funded by the Australian Government and supported by Construction Skills Queensland and Australia Post.
FOGS executive chairman Gene Miles is encouraging all Indigenous job seekers and school leavers to come down to the expo.
"Over 5,500 Indigenous job seekers have attended the four expos held across Queensland so far this year," Miles said.
"Indigenous job seekers and school leavers are invited to come on down to the free expo at the Civic Centre and apply for a wide range of jobs and training positions available on the day.
"The State of Origin legends will be signing autographs and encouraging job seekers to speak with exhibitors about the exciting opportunities on offer," he said.
The 2009 FOGS Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo will be held at the Mount Isa Civic Centre on Wednesday 9 September, 2009 from 9.00am to 2.00pm and entry is FREE.
