Set to be held in Rockhampton for the first time, The 2009 FOGS Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo will provide Rockhampton Indigenous job seekers with the unique opportunity to connect with 38 of Queensland’s most prominent employment, education and training providers including Australia Post, Virgin Blue, TAFE Queensland and Ergon Energy.  Exhibitors will have a range of positions available for job seekers to apply for on the day.

The Former Origin Greats is a non profit organization made up of 166 former Queensland State of Origin players which is committed to developing initiatives to narrow the employment and training gap between Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians.  This expo will be the first of six (6) FOGS Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo’s, supported by the Australian Government, that will be held throughout Queensland in 2009.

The Australian Government is providing funding for the six expos which will include displays from employers and industries in each of the regions and will provide Indigenous job seekers and school students with a chance to meet with employers and discuss employment and training opportunities.

The meeting will facilitate discussion on positive career pathways for Rockhampton Indigenous students in the lead up to the expo on 10 June.
