2008 FOGS Indigenous Employment Expo

The 2008 FOGS Indigenous Employment Expo is an exciting initiative of FOGS and the Australian Government that is set to provide Indigenous job seekers with the opportunity to connect with a number of Queensland’s largest employers over one day in November.

The free expo at Suncorp Stadium will enable the general public to discover jobs to suit their needs, while communicating directly with potential employers in a relaxed environment.

FOGS Executive Director, Gene Miles said FOGS is committed to inspiring and developing the next generation of Indigenous leaders.

“The Indigenous Employment Expo will assist indigenous job seekers in securing their future.  Whether job seekers are looking at career options or ready to start work today, the expo will assist in making it happen. 

This expo is an important part of the overall work FOGS are undertaking, to do what it can to reduce the gap in education and employment between Indigenous and non- Indigenous Australians.”

The integral support of Sarina Russo Job Access will enable the event to present an extensive range of opportunities for job seekers.

Sarina Russo Job Access’ Chief Operating Officer, Mr Tony Thomas said Sarina Russo Job Access is having marvellous success in mentoring and inspiring indigenous clients not only to get jobs but to become long-term employees.

“Employment is a wonderful key to social inclusion and our Indigenous mentor Violet Standen has helped scores of indigenous job seekers to hold down jobs giving them hope for a brighter future,” Mr Thomas said.

The 2008 FOGS Indigenous Employment Expo will provide visitors with the rare opportunity to meet Former Origin Greats and talk to real employers looking to identify candidates.
