How it all started

Gene Miles

Every member of FOGS is proud of the work we do. Please look at the projects we are involved in and how we came about.

Special Projects

Rural Communities Program

FOGS members regularly visit country centres to assist with fundraising, improve player participation levels and to promote rugby league. Areas visited recently include Charleville, Monto, Mundubbera, Eidsvold, Gayndah, St. George, Dirranbandi, Kilcoy, Kingaroy and Cloncurry.

Charity Fundraising

Since its inception FOGS has raised over $500,000 for various charities including Mardi Jackson Foundation, Kim Walters Choices Program, Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Hear and Say Centre, Cyclone Larry Appeal, Childhood Cancer Support, Ronald McDonald House.

Sponsorships

More recently FOGS has committed to sponsoring the A Grade and Under 19 competitions of the Queensland Cup (South East Division) initially for seasons 2006, 2007, 2008 and has just been extended for a further three years.

Maroon Day

Funds are to be raised through the sale of wristbands and mini footballs at McDonald’s outlets throughout the state during the 2009 State of Origin series.
Proceeds will be shared by Childhood Cancer Support and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Charity Luncheon

Held annually the day before the first Queensland-based State of Origin game, the FOGS charity luncheon is one of FOGS largest fund-raising activities.
Major beneficiaries include: Mardi Jackson Cancer Research and Junior Rugby League Development

FOGS raises funds through a number of sources including luncheons, promotional appearances and merchandise/memorabilia sales, and is extremely grateful to our sponsors for their support, allowing us to conduct and expand our community activities.
